Our read on Puredown

Puredown's best pillow is not a down pillow: the Shredded Memory Foam Pillow scores 7.3 and ranks eleventh of 53. Its feather and down models land between 5.7 and 6.6, with buyer averages of 4.2 to 4.4 stars. Value marks are strong, since the two big sellers cost $25 and $26.50 a pillow against a $34.99 median for feather and down. Flatness and escaping feathers are the complaints that keep coming back.

The company

Who is behind Puredown

Puredown sells through puredown.com, and the site names no legal entity or street address. Its About page says the brand owns raw down processing through a parent company, Liuqiao Group, a link no other source we opened confirms. The US trademark gives a firmer name: PUREDOWN, Reg. No. 5917086, belongs to Zhejiang Deodar Industrial Co., Ltd. of Hangzhou, China. Customs records compiled by a trade-data service show a Puredown Inc. in City of Industry, California, importing pillows and bedding, with Zhejiang Deodar among its top suppliers.

History

Puredown history

Puredown offers a start date without a story. Its About page says "Since 1993" and claims over 30 years of experience, but it does not say whether 1993 refers to Puredown or to its parent group, and it names no founder.

The public record starts in 2019, when the PUREDOWN mark was first used in commerce on April 15. It was filed on June 17 and registered on November 19 that year, on the Supplemental Register, and a Section 8 declaration was accepted on November 17, 2025. That registration covers textiles such as comforters, sheets and pillow cases, not bed pillows, and no separate pillow registration could be confirmed.

Manufacturing spans several countries, per the About page: it names facilities in Germany, the USA and the Czech Republic among others. Two pillows on the brand site are sold as Made in Germany and one as Made in USA, and one of the six on our list is sold as made in Japan. The customs records show Puredown Inc. shipments going back to 2007, earlier than the trademark, though that data comes from an aggregator rather than the company.

Materials

What Puredown pillows are made of

Puredown markets itself on goose down, and most of its pillows use it: grey goose feathers and down at 90/10, or white goose feathers and down in a three-chamber design. The Downcle pillow pairs recycled down and feathers with REPREVE recycled polyester. Two of its higher-priced pillows, by their own product pages, are filled with duck down instead, at 75/25 and 90/10. Covers are 100% cotton or organic cotton at 300 and 400 thread count. Our down and feather guide explains what fill power and feather share mean.

The certification list runs long: RDS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, DOWNPASS, NOMITE, Global Recycled Standard, REPREVE, GOTS and BSCI all appear on Puredown pages. No certificate number is published on any product page, the FAQ or the About page, so none of them could be looked up. Until the brand prints numbers, you are taking every one of those labels on its word.

Policies

Trial, returns and warranty

The FAQ promises a 30-night trial that starts on the delivery date, with refunds within 3 to 5 business days. Its refund policy counts 30 days from purchase instead and allows up to 14 business days to process a refund. Both cover direct purchases, and the gap matters if your order spends a week in transit, so start any return early. No warranty is published.

Buyers praise value on both, at 80% and 75% positive, yet flatness turns negative: 69% of 424 mentions on the first and 84% of 399 on the gusseted pillow. Feather containment is the other sore spot, with 60% of 368 mentions negative on the cotton-cover pillow. On the foam pillow, 77% of 26 odor mentions are negative, while 95% of 19 adjustability mentions are positive.

  • You expect goose down in every model: two use duck down.

Questions

Puredown questions

Is the Puredown pillow you are buying goose down or duck down?

Most Puredown pillows use goose feathers and down, but two higher-priced ones, the Organic Cotton Down Pillow and the Made in Germany European Down Pillow, are filled with duck down by their own product pages. Read the fill line on the page before you order.

Does Puredown give you a trial on its pillows?

The FAQ promises 30 nights from delivery, while the refund policy counts 30 days from purchase and allows up to 14 business days for a refund. Both apply to orders placed on puredown.com. If you need the full 30 nights, keep the delivery confirmation.

Who owns the Puredown name on your pillow?

The US trademark is held by Zhejiang Deodar Industrial Co., Ltd. of Hangzhou, China. Its About page names Liuqiao Group as its parent, which no other source confirms, and the website names no legal entity. To see one Puredown pillow against a rival, our Puredown vs Pacific Coast comparison sets two feather and down pillows side by side.

How should you wash a Puredown pillow?

The FAQ says to use a front-loading washer with two pillows at a time, mild detergent, a delicate cycle and an extra rinse. Tumble dry low with tennis balls and fluff every 15 to 20 minutes until completely dry. Read the care line of the exact pillow you buy: the feather pillows and the foam pillow are washed differently.
