Our read on MyPillow
MyPillow sits near the bottom of our ranking: the Premium scores 5.6 and places 46th of 53, and the Classic scores 5.2 and places 49th. Star averages look healthy at 4.2 and 4.0, yet the complaint profile scores only 2.8 and 2 out of 10, because flatness, firmness and value draw mostly negative mentions. You also pay $27.49 to $39.98 a pillow, at or above the $27.49 median for shredded foam.

The company
Who is behind MyPillow
My Pillow, Inc. is a private company headquartered in Chaska, Minnesota. Its founder, Mike Lindell, is the named inventor on the patent behind the pillow. A news report in August 2026 said that Lindell stepped down as chief executive, keeping a minority stake and a board seat, and that James Furlong took over as CEO.
Several public disputes attach to the company and its founder, and they are separate from how the pillow sleeps. Dominion Voting Systems, now Liberty Vote, sued Lindell and MyPillow for defamation in 2021, and the parties filed to dismiss that case with prejudice under a confidential settlement in June 2026. In 2025 a Colorado federal jury found that Lindell defamed a former Dominion employee, and a federal judge found he defamed Smartmatic. Those cases concern his election statements, not the product.
History
MyPillow history
The record here comes from patents, courts and press, since no brand history could be read. The Associated Press dates the company's start to 2004 in Chaska, Minnesota. The firmest early date is the patent for a pillow filled with foam pieces of various sizes: filed on November 23, 2005, and granted on December 9, 2008, as US 7,461,424.
In October 2016 the company settled a consumer-protection action brought by ten California district attorneys' offices. They alleged that its ads claimed, without competent scientific evidence, that the products could ease fibromyalgia, insomnia, migraines, TMJ and restless leg syndrome. The offices also said it called itself the "Official Bed Pillow" of the National Sleep Foundation without disclosing a financial link. Three months later the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota revoked its accreditation and cut its rating to F.
January 2021 brought retail losses: Bed Bath & Beyond said it was discontinuing MyPillow, and Lindell said Kohl's, H-E-B and Wayfair were dropping the line too, amid boycott calls over his election claims. Local press reported that the company auctioned equipment and subleased manufacturing space in July 2023, describing a shift to direct-to-consumer sales. A judge evicted it from a leased facility in Shakopee, Minnesota, in March 2024 over $217,489.74 in unpaid rent, yet press still showed a MyPillow factory there in December 2025.
Materials
What MyPillow pillows are made of
The patent describes the core idea: foam pieces of various sizes inside a case. Both pillows list foam as the fill and 100% cotton as the cover, so they sit under shredded memory foam here. A brand-sponsored TV program page says the company does all of its own manufacturing with materials made in the U.S.A., a claim no independent source confirms.
Proof of materials is thin. The CertiPUR-US directory has no MyPillow or My Pillow listing, and the product pages state no certification. A 2017 business-press report quoted the brand's site as saying its claims rest on medical opinion and user experience, not on actual clinical studies. If you shop by certified foam, start with what each label proves.
Policies
Trial, returns and warranty
Every term on record comes from a brand-sponsored TV program page: a 60-day money-back guarantee and a 10-year warranty. Current terms on mypillow.com could not be confirmed, and neither could whether they cover a pillow bought from another retailer. In 2017 the BBB said customers had to pay a fee to return a pillow under that warranty. Before you rely on either promise, ask in writing what a return costs.

Shape and price draw the loudest complaints across both models. On the Classic, 89% of 394 flatness mentions are negative, 72% of 789 value-for-money mentions are negative, and 13% of all ratings are one star. The Premium does better on sleep quality, with 75% of 571 mentions positive, but 76% of its 476 firmness mentions are negative. Comfort holds up on both, at 66% and 67% positive. Neck pain comes up 68 times on the Premium and leans positive (75%), though that is what buyers report, and ongoing pain is a reason to see a clinician.

Questions
MyPillow questions
Is MyPillow worth the price for you?
Buyers lean no on value: 72% of value-for-money mentions on the Classic and 69% on the Premium are negative. Both rank in the bottom ten of our 53 scored pillows. If you are weighing it against an adjustable foam pillow, our MyPillow vs Coop comparison puts the two side by side.
Does MyPillow come with a warranty you can use?
A brand-sponsored TV program page promises a 10-year warranty, but current terms on the brand site could not be confirmed. In 2017 the BBB said customers had to pay a fee to return a pillow under it, so ask what a claim costs before you buy.
Can you machine wash a MyPillow?
Both product pages say the whole pillow is machine washable, and the cover is cotton. Brand care instructions could not be read, so follow the care label on your pillow.
What was MyPillow's California settlement about?
Ten California district attorneys' offices said MyPillow advertised health benefits, such as easing insomnia and migraines, without competent scientific evidence. Under the 2016 stipulated judgment it agreed to pay $995,000 in civil penalties plus $100,000 to non-profits, without admitting liability, and it is barred from unsubstantiated efficacy claims.
