Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow review

A single low slab of extra-soft TEMPUR foam for back and stomach sleepers, sold with no trial, and the most common complaint is that it is too flat.

Our verdict

The TEMPUR-Cloud scores 6.5, 29th of 53. It does well on value at 8.7, since its price sits near the TEMPUR median, and on proof at 8.0. The complaint profile sinks it to 4.2: nearly every complaint is about height, and without a trial you carry that risk yourself.

68% of 7,646 ratings are five stars, pooled from two listings of the same pillow, and 10% are one or two. Quality is praised 79% of the time across 592 mentions, so the foam itself rarely draws fire.

The complaints cluster around one fact: the pillow is low and soft. Of 100 buyers who talk about flatness, 76% are negative; thickness runs 76% negative, and 62% of those who describe how far the head sinks dislike it. Support splits 60% positive across 346. Read together, those numbers describe a mismatch more than a defect: buyers who wanted a taller pillow got exactly the low one Tempur-Pedic describes.

Fill and feel

One piece of TEMPUR-Material in an extra-soft grade

Inside is a single piece of what Tempur-Pedic calls TEMPUR-Material, its own memory foam, made in an extra-soft feel. No shredded pieces and no layers: the whole block compresses where your head lands, and nothing inside can be moved to change that. Tempur-Pedic says it cradles the head, neck and shoulders; buyers who discuss support are less sure, as the counts above show.

The listing names CertiPUR-US, and the CertiPUR-US directory confirms Tempur-Pedic at company level, which brings proof to 8.0. Our page on memory foam covers how a solid block differs from shredded fill.

Size and loft

Five inches tall and built for two positions

Tempur-Pedic gives the standard as 24 by 15.75 by 5 inches and calls it low profile and ultra conforming, especially for back and stomach sleepers. Those two positions are the only ones it names, which explains a fit range of 5.0. If you sleep on your side, those 5 inches will compress further under the weight of your head, and the gap to your shoulder stays open.

A king size comes in a two-pack. Fill cannot be added or taken out, so the height you receive is the height you keep. Before you settle on it for back sleeping, look at our back sleeper ranking, which lists the pillows that score best for that position.

Care

Wash the knit cover, keep the foam dry

A polyester knit cover zips off and goes in the washing machine. The foam block does not, which holds care at 8.0. At 4.5 pounds, the pillow is heavy enough that you will notice it each time you change the cover.

Value

Fair for TEMPUR foam, risky without a trial

One TEMPUR-Cloud costs $71.40, against a $74.50 median for TEMPUR pillows, and the two-pack costs less per pillow. The TEMPUR-Symphony, at $74.50, scores 5.4, so the Cloud is the better-rated of the two.

Tempur-Pedic offers no trial on pillows and accepts returns only for damage or defects; a 5-year limited warranty covers the rest. Our Purple vs Tempur-Pedic comparison sets it against a latex pillow, and the full lineup is on the Tempur-Pedic brand page.

Questions

Questions about the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow

Is the TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow too flat for you as a side sleeper?

Probably. Tempur-Pedic names back and stomach sleepers, gives a 5-inch height, and 76% of buyers who mention flatness are negative.

Can you return a TEMPUR-Cloud you do not like?

Only if it arrives damaged or defective. Tempur-Pedic has no trial on pillows, so a dislike of the feel is not grounds for a return.

How do you clean a TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow?

Unzip the polyester knit cover and machine wash it. The foam itself is not listed as washable.
