if it’s too firm you can open it up and remove some of the memory foam (I removed about two ziplock gallon bags worth) my wife did not remove any of hers and she loves the neck support.
The cover stays cool, but I don't understand why only one side is cool and not the other. That's the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars.
It has a VERY STRONG chemical smell. Even after 5 days of letting it 'air out', it still has a strong smell.
Sizing is not as described, ordered a king but it measures as a Queen size. Customer service doesn’t help.
Fill and feel
Cross-cut foam you can take out
QUTOOL fills the pillow with 85% cross-cut memory foam and 15% microfiber, behind a zippered inner cover and a zippered outer one. Opening both lets you add or remove fill to set height and firmness, and the buyer quotes describe pulling out a lot of it: one took out about two gallon bags' worth. Shredded memory foam is built for exactly that kind of tuning.
CertiPUR-US lists QUTOOL itself for the foam. Its OEKO-TEX certificate, 18.HCN.42834, is valid but held by the manufacturer, Jiangsu Lebeidi Home Supplies Co., Ltd.
Cover
One cool face, one soft face
The outer cover is double-sided. One face is 50% "silky ice" fabric and 50% polyester, which QUTOOL says lowers surface temperature by about 4 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit. The other is 60% polyester and 40% bamboo viscose, sold for a softer touch. Only the ice side carries the cool-touch fabric, and that is the detail one four-star buyer docked a star for.
Size and loft
6 inches as shipped, less if you want
The queen measures 29 by 19 inches with a stated thickness of 6 inches, and standard and king are sold too, in White-cooling Basic or Blue-ice Plus versions. If you sleep on your stomach, plan to remove a good share of foam on the first night. Several buyers on QUTOOL's site say the pillows arrive full enough to feel firm until some fill comes out.
Care
Wash the cover, never the foam
QUTOOL says the outer cover is machine washable in cold water, with no heat in the dryer, no bleach, no iron and no dry cleaning. The foam filling is not to be washed at all, which keeps care at 8.0.
